Great bass singer is condemned to linger in jail
NewsA a judge at Tbilisi City Court today extended the detention of opera star Paata Burchuladze and four others whoi have been accused of organising violence against the ruling regime. They deny the charge, for which no proof has been brought.
Burchuladze, who is 70, has been held for almost two months, since a demonstration on October 4.
Judge Irakli Shvangiradze said no new substantial circumstances had been identified to justify changing the detention measure.
When this story first appeared, I wondered “aloud” what type of treatment this good man would receive at the Tbilisi hospital. ‘Looks like my worst fear was well-founded. Very sad that Georgia remains a vassal state of Putin’s Ru$$ia.

Frankly, the headline could conceivably have related to certain other regimes, currently grabbing people on the street (masked and otherwise unidentified) and detaining them without due process.
I wouldn’t be surprised to hear of any location, former Soviets, or the West, or East…
I hope he survives the ordeal.
