Messiaen’s ‘true musician’ has died at 98
RIPOlivier Messiaen said of Guy Morançon: ‘quel plaisir d’écrire le nom d’un vrai musicien’.
Morançon, conductor of the Lully chorus, organist of Notre-Dame des Victoires in Paris and director of the Conservatoire Nadia Boulanger, died yesterday, a few days short of his 99th birthday.
He made numerous recordings.
Good gawd can you imagine actually using that organ in a wedding? Those 64′ Posaune stops would blow the bride right through the altar!
