Breaking: Brazil backs down on pernambuco ban
NewsAccording to the French newspaper Le Point, an export ban on the prediouc wood, required in the making of bows for stringed instryments, was averted at the very last minute by a phone call from Emmanuel Macron to Brazilian President Lula.
Tomorrow, 183 nations will approve a new charter on trade in wild fauna and flora. The limits on pernambuco have been slightly tightened but not alarmingly so. Germany, we hear, was prepared to go for a full-out ban, proposed by Brazil. But Lula has now backed down.
Good because carbon fiber will never cut it.
