US opera chief conductor steps down after 44 years
OperaArtistic Director and Principal Conductor Victor DeRenzi will leave Saraota Opera next May after 44 years in the job.
General Director Richard Russell will absorb the title Artistic Director. He won’t conduct, though.
DeRenzi’s proudest claim is to have condcuted every note that Verdi ever wrote.
